What TrackWatch does
TrackWatch is an independent iPhone app that shows the live location and status of Amtrak trains using publicly available train-tracking data. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak).
Information we collect
TrackWatch is designed to work without an account or sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifying information through the app.
- Trains you track — which trains and stops you choose to follow are stored locally on your device (and shared securely between the app and its widgets via your device's App Group storage). This information is never transmitted to us or any third party.
- Location (optional) — if you grant location permission, TrackWatch uses your device's location only to center the map near you or a station. Your location is never stored on our servers or shared with any third party.
- Notifications — the stops and lead times you choose for arrival alerts are stored locally on your device and used only to schedule local notifications.
Information we don't collect
- No account creation or login
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers or ad tracking
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties
Third-party services
TrackWatch retrieves live train data from publicly available Amtrak train-status data sources in order to display schedules, locations, and delay information. No personal data is sent as part of these requests.
Children's privacy
TrackWatch does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect personal information from any user in the first place.
